🎁Santa is bringing a huge gift for #KatmanduPaonia this year! We are so excited to announce that we are now a State of Colorado Non Profit Corporation! This is the first step in seeking IRS Tax Exempt status. At its inception in 2011, Katmandu Paonia was the cattery arm of the Black Canyon Animal Sanctuary which is a 501(c)(3) corporation. With the BCAS shelter closing and now solely focused on its Silver Whiskers Program that matches seniors with seniors, it makes sense that Katmandu Paonia goes out on its own.
🐾What’s changed? The way we accept donations. Donations can now be made directly to “Katmandu Paonia” instead of needing to go through BCAS. When we obtain our IRS Tax Exempt status, your donations will be tax deductible. We will let you know when this is official!
🐾What’s the same? Katmandu Paonia’s operations will continue in the same manner as it has in the past. Our intake and adoption procedures will remain the same.
🐾What’s next? Now that Katmandu Paonia is incorporated, a Board of Directors has been elected, bylaws have been established, and we are now in the process of applying for the IRS Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) designation. A website will be launched shortly with additional information and we will keep you updated as we progress.
👏Thank you to our supporters, and especially to Debbie Faulkner of Black Canyon Animal Sanctuary for assisting us with this transition. We hope you will continue to support both organizations as we progress on our journey!
